Councils core responsibilities

Local Government should concentrate on it's core responsibilities and not encroach onto  State Governments issues.

I couldn't agree more. This is the reason we have local government - to look after local issues. We have State government to look after issues concerning the state. That is why it is so important to have councillors who have a passion for the local community. Someone who knows what and why issues are happening locally and who can offer solutions. As you have lived here for so long Bruce with your family, I suspect not many people are aware of local issues - past and present as you are. This is why you will be getting my vote.

Council fees and charges are increasingly on the up and up - like everything else I know, however, with small business falling by the way side, it may be timely for the council to review their fees and charges to help small businesses survive.
